La galerie Andorrane Alta rend hommage au photographe espagnol décédé le 4 mars 2024. Né en 1931, ce pionnier de la photo documentaire en Espagne dans les années 1950-1960 a travaillé pour la presse et le ministère de l’Information et du Tourisme, au moment de l’ouverture de la dictature franquiste aux touristes étrangers.
Avec un langage graphique épuré, simple, direct et plein d’humour, Masats, surnommé le « Cartier-Bresson espagnol », saisit les fêtes de San Fermin à Pampelune, des corridas, une partie de foot entre séminaristes, un combat de boxe…

RAMÓN MASATS (ALTA, B44)
The Andorran gallery Alta pays tribute to the Spanish photographer who passed away on March 4, 2024. Born in 1931, he was a pioneer of documentary photography in Spain during the 1950s and 1960s, working for the press and the Ministry of Information and Tourism at a time when the Franco dictatorship was opening up to foreign tourists.
